Intensive Outpatient Program

Are You Looking To Get Involved In An Intensive Outpatient Program?

Have you recently completed a residential or inpatient program for addiction and mental health issues? Or are you looking for a higher level of care than ordinary therapy can provide?

Maybe you were recently discharged from a partial hospitalization program but you’re still looking to continue getting support. Or perhaps the care that you’re currently getting isn’t helping you, and you’re looking for a more involved and comprehensive form of treatment. If this is the case, we encourage you to connect with Omaha Trauma Therapy. Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) provides a combination of individual and group therapy services for people looking to overcome addiction and improve their mental health.

What’s The Benefit Of An Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program?

Our program gives you a supportive environment to address the underlying causes of your dependency and develop new strategies for maintaining sobriety. Our therapists will help you identify external and internal triggers, anticipate and prevent relapse, learn new emotional regulation skills, and manage your cravings more effectively. The goal is to give you skills that you can access daily, empowering you to control your dependency outside of therapy.

Additionally, our program provides you with psychosocial support from a community of likeminded people. The group counseling sessions will allow you to form meaningful connections and gain ongoing support from people who share your struggles and are also on the road to recovery. Most importantly, they can hold you accountable as you work toward sobriety. It’s much easier to achieve your goals when you have other people there to encourage you and challenge you, and this is often the greatest benefit of intensive outpatient therapy.

What Does The Intensive Outpatient Program Look Like?

Our IOP is designed to provide structured, focused treatment to your life while still allowing you to maintain your daily routine. Unlike an inpatient or partial hospitalization program, you don’t have to put your day-to-day responsibilities on the backburner. The program runs from 6 PM to 9 PM on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and takes place over a period of 12 weeks from August 19, 2024, to November 8, 2024. The materials fee for each individual participating is $45.

There are three stages to the program, each of which is outlined below:

  • One week of Early Recovery—This phase of treatment aims to provide psychoeducation about addictive behavior and give you practical skills for stopping the cycle, identifying triggers, and crisis intervention.

  • Three weeks of Relapse Prevention—The goal of relapse prevention is to help you learn to anticipate relapses and understand the common pitfalls that happen when you’re becoming sober. We will teach you harm reduction with the eventual goal of complete abstinence.

  • Eight weeks of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)—Most approaches to therapy focus on either changing your life or accepting things the way they are. DBT seeks to find a middle ground between these two options, helping you learn to both tolerate and reduce your distress. You and the rest of the group members will spend eight weeks working on skills related to four areas: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.

In addition to DBT, our therapists utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and a wide range of other interventions to help clients overcome their addiction and make behavioral changes.

Our Program Includes Individual Therapy And Medication Management

Although group therapy sessions make up the bulk of our intensive outpatient program, you have the option to work with one of our individual therapists, too. This way, you will have a chance to explore your personal challenges in a one-on-one setting and go more in-depth into your struggles with addiction.

Our practice also offers medication management for those who are interested. If you already have a provider, you are welcome to continue working with them, but we have providers on staff who can assist you if you don’t. You will meet with your therapist and provider once a week throughout treatment, ensuring that you get comprehensive and individualized care during the recovery process. And although we may recommend medication, it is always optional—you’re in charge of your own treatment and we’re here to meet your needs and goals for the program.
