Alma Ramos Rivera, LICSW Adults, Teens and Children

Alma L. Ramos Rivera completed her Bachelors of Science degree with a double major in Communication and Spanish from Eastern CT State University. She went on to do a Summer Study aboard in Spain, enriching further her native language skills. Alma received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Columbia University School of Social Work in New York City.

Alma has over 25 years experience working with children and families in many areas including mental health clinics, hospitals, community based organizations and schools. Alma serves children, adolescents, adults, families, couples, and groups. In April of 2019, Alma was awarded by the Sherwood Foundation in Omaha, the Dolores Huerta Catalyst Award. This award is given to rising and selective Latina women in the Omaha metro area making a difference in their professional careers in the community. As a result of this award, and due to her personal experience caring for her mother with cancer until her passing, Alma has chosen to use her award to further her growth via professional development and conferences to educate others on holistic and complimentary cancer therapies, aiding the caregivers through their own journeys, and educating doctors and other health professionals on the journey that one experiences when affected by cancer.

Alma has been providing services in the school systems since 2007 both in New York City and Nebraska. She was recently nominated to be part of the crisis response team in the Omaha Public School systems as a frontline responder shall a crisis occur in the schools. Alma is also a proud mother of two children. In her line of work, Alma uses an eclectic approach to reaching clients in therapy in addition to the incorporation foundations of psychology via Freud and other theorists.
