Amanda Hagedorn, PLMHP Therapist

My name is Amanda Hagedorn. I prefer to go by as Mandye. My pronouns are she/her/hers. I am provisionally licensed as a mental health practitioner. I earned my Master of Science in Clinical Counseling (2022) and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with distinction (2016) at Bellevue University. I have a couple years of internship experience in the mental health field.

My clinical experience is mainly a client-centered approach. I like to use solution-focused, CBT, DBT, mindfulness, holistic approaches, and/or social-emotional building skills when necessary during client sessions.

I believe I am someone who is down-to-earth, soft-spoken, friendly, empathic, and have a sense of humor. I believe having these traits can build rapport with clients. I am open-minded and keep a judgment-free and safe space for anyone around me. I believe myself as a problem-solver, advocator, teacher, supporter, nurturer, and a healer when it comes to helping someone, especially if they are “stuck” in an area of their life. I am a believer in self-care and mindfulness to reduce life stressors.

I am a believer in building rapport before moving forward towards the “harder” topics in therapy. I am a believer in adding humor and being creative in therapy. I will advocate and help clients balance their life to manage stressors and challenges around them.

I became a mental health counselor because I wanted to help others with depression, anxiety, trauma, and building social-emotional skills. I have some background helping intellectual and developmental disabilities including autism. I am an advocate and an ally for LGBTQIA+ and would provide a safe place for anyone within the community. I have worked with a diverse population. I have experience working with children and adolescents that show problematic behavior only to learn that they are going through a period of adjustment or detachment from family and needing support.

I want to be an advocate for suicide prevention because I have lost a family member and a couple close friends to suicide. I understand that fighting depression and anxiety can be challenging, but it doesn’t have to be alone. YOU are not alone. I will walk the journey with my clients every step of the way. I will guide them by using my empathy and listening skills. I will help by providing resources and tools that my clients will need to be successful in healing through their challenges, whether its anxiety, depression, traumatic events, or needing help with social-emotional skills.
